Purchasing a Plasma TV Cabinets
When you are going to spend possibly thousand of dollars on new plasma or lcd tvs, there is no sense in skimping on the price of plasma TV cabinets. You are going to want something that will hold this expensive monitor in an upright position, without fear of it falling over and being destroyed. The larger the screen the more security you will want in knowing the unit is not going wobble and potentially fall down if someone bumps the plasma TV cabinets on which it is located.
Depending on the size of your new television monitor, it can be made to stand on the floor, on plasma TV cabinets on the floor or hung on the wall. One of the disadvantages of hanging the set on the wall is routing the cable or satellite wires as well as surround sound speaker wires through the wall, or have them showing as they trail from the floor to the back of the unit. If using an entertainment system stand that includes spaces for DVD player or television channel tuner, you will want to make sure it is large enough to handle the size of your monitor.
Most new televisions include plasma TV cabinets that fasten to the bottom of the monitor, but some of the larger sets also include brackets that attach to the back as well as the bottom to help maintain stability. Once you have placed your set on the floor or on a table top in the plasma TV cabinets, perform a bump test to insure it is not going to go tumbling down. With someone close to the set, bump the furniture lightly and gauge the action of the cabinets.
If this is not in your budget it is not a must, but if you can afford a hand built plasma TV console it is the way to go. You may even be able to have one built to your specifications if you talk to one of these craftsmen. Again, this option will be more expensive but you will not be throwing your money away. Once you have figured out all these factors, take a drive out to the showroom and begin looking for furniture.
Making sure the plasma TV cabinets keep your television safe from disaster should the prime consideration and if you are not comfortable with the cabinets included with a new set, it may be a good investment to upgrade to a better quality of plasma TV cabinets to protect your usually expensive investment, especially with small children in the house or if you throw a lot of crowded or rowdy parties.
